Staccato (Italian for detached) is a form of musical articulation.
In modern notation it signifies a note of shortened duration,
separated from the note that may follow by silence.
It has been described by theorists and
appeared in music since the 18th century.
How to obtain a good staccato
To obtain a staccato sound on classical guitar,
there are at least two possibilities
1) with the left hand reducing pressure on fingers
without detaching them from the guitar string.
2) stopping the strings with the right hand,
after having played, leaning over .
in this case the right hand will have to stop and
then immediately play again
When I decided to compose a piece with

I've just decided to name this piece Ghost
because it It seems a short word
for guitar staccato technique : G.(ho)S.T.

Formula p-a-m-i The thumb pinches the bass and then relaxes. The ring finger enters the action and pinches the concerned string keeping the last phalanx taut (but softly) while the middle and index fingers are slightly advanced towards it. Immediately after the ring has been vibrated by the ring finger, the latter relaxes by returning to position and at the same time the middle finger repeats the same dynamic while the index finger remains relaxed and slightly forward.After plucking the string, the middle finger relaxes and at the same time the ring finger goes outwards while the index starts repeating what was done by the ring finger and middle finger.After the forefinger has pinched the string, the ring,middle and forefinger relax by going slightly outwardsto allow the thumb to act without obstacles and the cycle restarts. The most important thing in practice is to relax the various fingers at the right time and keep the hand still (knuckles still).
The movements must be minimal and the fingers a, m, i as close as possible. Once a certain speed has been reached, the mind no longer has to concentrate on the single finger but imagines a flow of energy that flows softly from the ring finger to the thumb.( from etguitar Italian Forum , thank you very much )
