Yoga and Classical Guitar

Hello,


Maybe it will not look, but this post is very relevant
with the technique and interpretation of the repertoire of the classical guitar.

When I was 17 years old I was a student of the fourth or fifth year of the Conservatory
and I had to play five or six hours every day so I found myself with a nice back pain .

I then began to do yoga that solved my back problems giving me very well
but above all it calmed me down a little ( I was strung, I was angry for nothing
and I went on a rampage if someone made ​​me a critique ).

But the biggest benefit that gave me the practice of Yoga is serenity
and strength during my classical guitar interpretations. This allowed me to make great technical progress
eliminating those shackles that prevented me from moving forward.
When I was a young guitarist I sweating in an effort to play a simple piece, but with yoga was all easier !

Quel matto è un genio !

Ciao a tutti !


Non ricordo quale grande musicista , dopo aver ascoltato un fantastico concerto del pianista Glenn Gould disse
la famosa frase " quel matto è un genio ! ".

Ora la storia dell'arte è piena di pianisti, pittori, scultori, compositori un po' fuori dalle righe se non fuori di testa proprio,
pensiamo a Vincent van Gogh o a David Helfgott ( vedi il film Shine ) ma si dice fossero pazzi anche Scriabin
Liszt, Erik Satie e molti altri.

Ma allora mi chiedo come mai non c'è un chitarrista classico matto ?


Segovia, Tarrega, John Williams, Yepes, Barrueco... tutte persone normali e
molto equilibrate, uomini sempre tranquilli e rilassati!

Anche di me stesso penso la stessa cosa, tranne qualche stravaganza sono tutt'al più un po' eccentrico.


Noi chitarristi siamo dunque tutti persone normali ed equilibrate ?
e se si, perchè ?
Forse ha a che fare con la tecnica della chitarra classica o il suono della chitarra classica?

Io ho composto qualche pezzo mentre avevo la febbre alta diciamo
e ho notato che in quelle condizioni le mie composizioni sono davvero
originali anche se non proprio facili o melodiche :

                                          

Dilermando Reis e la notte della luna blu

Stamattina leggendo le notizie su internet ho scoperto che oggi , il 31 agosto,
è "la notte della luna blu".

Così pensando anche a Neil Armstrong e alla luna che così spesso ricorre nelle mie composizioni
e che così sesso mi ispira nelle mie interpretazioni ho pensato di registrare un nuovo video
con un colore leggermente blu.

Fin qui il mio lavoro di regista è stato abbastanza facile ma poi si è presentato il problema di che pezzo registrare, e qui è iniziato il mio lavoro di chitarrista.

Scavando nell'infinito cassetto della mia memoria musicale mi sono sorpreso a ricordare
che Se Ela Perguntar poteva essere il pezzo giusto per quella sua dignitosa malinconia serena.

Dilermando Reis è stato un compositore brasiliano che, pur suonando per esigenza moderne negli anni 50-60 con corde di metallo ( come già Barrios Mangorè , che orrore le corde di metallo sulla chitarra classica ) ha composto qualche buona melodia che in qualche modo che nemmeno io riesco a spiegarmi, si avvicina alla mia sensibilità.

Ascoltando su YouTube la versione di David Russell gli ho rubato con gli occhi quasi tutte le diteggiature ma la sua interpretazione mi è sembrata un po' veloce un po' rigida e con l'aggiunta di
un'introduzione di cui non si sentiva assolutamente il bisogno.

L'interpretazione audio , sempre su YouTube, dello stesso Dilermando Reis mi è invece sembrata
metallica appunto. L'uso del rubato di Reis è poi di quelli di un signore dalle buone maniere
cosa che io non sono come avrete capito ( scherzo ).

Così ho preso le diteggiature di Russel e un po' del suono metallico e rubato di Reis
e poi ci ho aggiunto un po di staccato qua e la che non mi faccio mai mancare.

Ne è venuta fuori un'interpretazione buona ? Degna di questa romantica notte di luna blu ?
a voi il giudizio, per me è già domani.

Today I will talk about 'staccato' or guitar staccato technique,

Also with my composition GhoST ! 

 as well described in wikipedia :

 Staccato (Italian for detached) is a form of musical articulation.
 In modern notation it signifies a note of shortened duration,
 separated from the note that may follow by silence.

It has been described by theorists and

appeared in music since the 18th century.



How to obtain a good staccato

To obtain a staccato sound on classical guitar,

there are at least two possibilities



1) with the left hand reducing pressure on fingers

without detaching them from the guitar string.

2) stopping the strings with the right hand,

 after having played,  leaning over .

in this case the right hand will have to stop and

 then immediately play again




When I decided to compose a piece with

 Guitar Staccato Technique

I've just decided to name this piece Ghost 

because it It seems a short word

for guitar staccato technique : G.(ho)S.T.

This thing has given me the inspiration also because

 a note staccato is also a ghost note

so I decided to keep even in shadow  the tonic note, 

so the tonic note there is but is not seen just as a ghost...


Staccato technique requires lots of practice,

especially right hand staccato
